Carlsbad Blooms Over Fertigation

Soil Technology is proud to team up with one of California’s largest flower growers, Mellano & Company (Mellano.com), at the infamous Carlsbad Flower Fields for a water conservation trial! To create an equal trial our development team split up a 2 acre field section of irrigation to install meters on each side. The day after the polymer application irrigation was reduced by 20%. In addition to the water savings, we’ll be watching germination and how quickly the water moves laterally across the beds. Jess Williams, operation manager, said “if this product can get my beds completely wet in 20 to 22 minutes, rather than 30 plus minutes, we’ll save a lot more than 20 percent. We’re excited to be working with Soil Technology and their water management expertise.”

Mellano & Company are engaged with Soil Technology for three additional water conservation studies. We are looking forward to Spring and seeing the evidence of our fertigation methods blossom!
